1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products ?
Frame 1: The main artist of this music video represents a typical male teenager. You can see that he has been represented this way through the clothes he is wearing and the props he uses. A male teenager today likes to be very fashionable and keep up to date with the current fashion trends, and the artist in the video is being represented this way, as he looks fashionable and is wearing clothes which are currently popular within male fashion. Also, in the video he is texting on an iPhone, which is a very popular smartphone and reflects the current trends. Overall, my artists represents the youth today and the current trends and culture through the costumes and props. This will work well for our target audience as it will attract them easier, because they are familiar with it and is relatable to them.
Frame 2: In this frame, it shows one of the main locations we used for our music video, which is in a house. We used this house, as this is where the couple in the music video, spent some of their times together. It was a good location which fits the generic conventions of a pop video, because in most pop videos, you can see that couples always have a house where they live or spend time together. There are also other locations in the music video, which makes the narrative more interesting for the audience and shows significance for the lyrics, such as the heartbroken male who is sitting by himself on park bench reflecting back on his relationship.
Frame 3: This frame represents the costumes of the actors in my music video. It was important for both the male and female actors to look fashionable, and wear clothes which are popular and in current fashion. We took inspiration from artists such Bruno Mars and Olly Murs, who are famous pop artists and represent fashion well within their music videos. Costumes and fashion is an important convention for pop, so the costumes for the actors was really good and fitted the pop genre.
Frame 4: This frame shows the camerawork and editing. In this frame, you can see a close up of the actors face. This shot is very effective as it shows the emotion of the actor, and the close up signifies he is upset and is thinking back to his relationship through his facial expression. Camera shots and angles are very important and help different meanings of the music video and lyrics, such as this frame where the close up shows the audience the actors emotion.
Frame 5: In this frame we can see the artist lip syncing the lyrics. This represents the artist performing his song. It was important me to perform well as the artist and make myself look like a realistic singer as I lip sync the lyrics. The audience has to know who the main artist is that is singing the song, and the artist is represented through his performance in this song.
Frame 6: This frame is an image of the narrative. The narrative for our music video was very important as it worked really well with our lyrics and fits the conventions for a pop video. This frame shows a happy couple having a laugh together and representing love, which is a convention of a pop video. The narrative later shows how the relationship starts to fall apart.
Frame 7: The genre of the music video is pop, and we can see this in many ways, mostly through the narrative scenes of the couple. Most pop videos, artists represents happiness and love, and show this through the narrative and their performance. The same way, we have shown a happy couple who are in love, and can see this in the narrative.
Frame 8: The characters are introduced straightaway in the music video, and we can see in this frame a long shot of the male protagonist, as this is how he is introduced in the video. It helps show the audience who the protagonist is and also suggest what the narrative could be about, as he is walking alone it reflects loneliness.
Frame 9: In this frame we can see the special effects used for our music video. In this frame is a still of the narrative within the music video. This part of the narrative, is when the relationship is going downhill which leads to the break up, and we used the black and white effect as it reflects sadness and heartbreak. This special effect made the music video look much better as it gave emphasis for the lyrics and the narrative. There are also transitions in the music video, where the scenes fade into another, and is very effective for the video.

Audience Feedback - Magazine Advert
The audience feedback for my magazine was good. Majority of the feedback, showed that the people who reviewed it, liked how the font and colour theme was the same as my digipak. They liked that it reflected my genre well. I was recommended to add social network sites for promotion of my artist, which I added later.

Audience Feedback - Digipak
My digipak received positive feedback. The audience mainly liked the typography and colour of the digipak, they said it suited the pop genre well. However, it was plain and didn't represent my artist much, so I was recommended to add a picture of my artist and show his face on the cover. After this I had added a picture of my artist and edited it on Photoshop to make it look professional.

Audience Feedback - Editing
For my editing, I received a lot of positive feedback from my audience. majority of the feedback, was that I had used good lip syncing and good cut shots. However, I was recommended to use more transitions as there weren't enough. I applied these changes, and added transitions which improved my video a lot. Also my feedback said that the narrative and performance was good.

Audience Feedback - Mise en scene
The feedback I received for my mise en scene was both positive and negative. The feedback showed that my locations were good and suited my genre. However, the negatives was that there wasn't enough variation for my locations and that I should use more different locations. Also, that I should add more props such as flowers which would go well with my lyrics. I took the feedback on board and applied changes to my video by adding different locations and brought flowers for my props.

Audience Feedback - Costume
Majority of my feedback about my costumes were positive. My class mates said that the costumes fit the pop genre, and suits well on the characters. The costumes reflected current and popular fashion, which works well for my music video. The positive feedback meant I didn't have to make changes to my costumes.

Production Log - Editing Ancillary Tasks
Editing:
Are you on schedule?
Yes I am on schedule for my ancillary tasks. I spent time editing for my ancillary tasks at home, too keep me on schedule.
How is it going?
Editing for my ancillary tasks are going really well, and I find it easier to edit my digipak and advert better than my music video. I am trying to have the same theme for both my digipak and magazine advert.
What are the difficulties?
The main difficulty for me, was to try and crop round the picture for my front cover perfectly without there being easily visible mistakes. I had to erase the background of the original picture and place in onto my digipak.
What programme are you using?
The programme I am using for digipak and magazine advert is Photoshop.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of this programme?
The advantages for this programme is that there are various tools, which you can use for your pictures such as the magic wand, lasso and magnetic tool, which makes it easier to crop pictures.
What fonts did you choose and why did you choose it?
The font I used was called "coaster", which I downloaded from dafont. I chose this font as it looks very cool and it fits well with the pop genre and my artist.
Production Log - Editing Music Video
Editing:
Are you on schedule?
Yes, I am on schedule for the editing. I have worked on the editing out of school hours, to help me improve and finish my video.
How did it go?
The editing went better than I had first predicted. I wasn't used to adobe premier pro that much, however I got used to all the controls and the features, and managed to apply them to my music video.
What were the difficulties?
There wasn't much difficulty for the editing, except there were a few clips with poor lighting. There wasn't much I could do to change the lighting of the clips, so I had to re shoot them and make sure the original lighting was good, so for example I filmed in the day where there was bright daylight.
What programme are you using?
The programme I used for editing was Adobe Premier Pro.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of this programme?
There are many advantages for this programme. It offered various different tools for the editing of the video and audio. The different tools included transitions, mirrored effects, black and white effects, multiple screens and many more useful tools. There were very few disadvantages, as I thought the programme was really useful.

Production Log - Filming
Filming:
The filming went well. My partner Luca and I, managed to shoot all the different scenes for our music video. We went to our different locations for specific shots. There was a few shots where we had to change, as it didn't looked too good when we watched it back, so we tried a few different camera angles to make it look better. There wasn't too many difficulties, as we had managed to shoot everything smoothly and had no trouble getting to our locations or the actors turning up for the shoot. We were slightly behind schedule for the first deadline, however once we had shot all of our scenes, we were on schedule.

20. Equipment
In this task, I will show the different equipment I will be using while shooting my music video, and why I have chosen to use them.
Here is a tripod, which is one piece of equipment which I will be using while shooting my film. I have chosen to use a tripod, because it will help keep my camera steady and straight, which will make it look more neat and professional. For that reason it is important I use a tripod therefore I will have more professional shots.

Here is a digital video camera. This the most important equipment, as it will be record all the shots for our video. It is very light and portable, so it will be good to record while moving and recording pan shots or track shots.

18. Props

In our music video we will be using a photo frame. In one of the scenes in our video the main artist will pick up the photo or we will show a scene with the prop which will show meaning with the artist and helps understand what the narrative is about. This will link to the lyrics and what the song is about.
Another prop we are using is an iPhone 4s. This is a very popular phone and most people will know about it. It is a good prop for a pop video, because the phone shows that the character is keeping up and following modern trends, and so he doesn't have an out of fashion phone.

17. Locations
For my music video I will have two different locations. One of the locations is in a house, and the other is in a park. Both the locations are part of the narrative for the song. There will be different scenes which will be switching from the house to the park, which will show both performance and narrative.

16. Casting/Actors
The actor for my music video will be played by myself. I will be acting as the artist of the song, Alom Hussain. My artist fits the generic look of a pop artist, as he dresses the typical way a pop artist would, so he is very fashionable, which is important as my actor will sell himself as he acts, and promote himself and his music creating his own image, as many pop artists do like Bruno Mars, Olly Murs and Justin Timberlake.
I have chosen Rheanna McKnight to perform the role of the ex-girlfriend for my music video. The reason why i have chosen Rheanna is because she fits the generic pop look for a female. She is slim and is very good looking, so this gives her features which are attractive to look at, which means you can sell her as an actress and performer, as many pop artists do when they act in their videos. The song is about a couple breaking up, and Rheanna is very confident in front of a camera and can show emotions while she acts, so she will suit the narrative of the video well.

14. Storyboard
Reflection: I have completed my storyboard which I have planned out for my music videos. I have planned all the different shots and shot lengths/angles I will be using. I have explained what type of sounds and music you would be expecting. I will try to apply as much as I can from this storyboard to the music videos, as the initial idea of the video is planned out on this storyboard.

10. Lyrics Planning
Same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now
Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you, all it does is just tear me down
'Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name
I will use performance for this verse, as it will introduce my artist in the music video so the audience can see who the singer is, and what the song is about. This will look good with a close up or a medium shot of my artist.
It all just sounds like oooooh…
Mmm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should've bought you flowers
And held your hand
Should've gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man
I can start the narrative in this verse, and show my singer/actor looking upset and that he misses his ex-girlfriend, it will emphasise the lyric "should've gave you all my hours when I had the chance", which shows his regret
My pride, my ego, my needs, and my selfish ways
Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life
Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, ohh…
And it haunts me every time I close my eyes
I can show narrative for the lyric "haunts me every time I close my eyes", I could have an extreme close up of the artist/actor closing their eyes.
It all just sounds like oooooh…
Mmm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should've have bought you flowers
And held your hand
Should've gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man
This part will look good with performance, as it is the chorus so it goes back to the location where the singer is performing
Although it hurts
I'll be the first to say that I was wrong
Oh, I know I'm probably much too late
To try and apologize for my mistakes
But I just want you to know
I can use shots to show the narrative here, as the actor will be looking at an old photo frame and realises it was all his fault
I hope he buys you flowers
I hope he holds your hand
Give you all his hours
When he has the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man
I can end the last verse with both performance and narrative. I can show the actor walking away, so the camera will pan away from him. And on the last line "when I was your man", which is the title of the song, I can end it with the artist singing the line.

3. Genre Research and Audience Expectations
This is my word cloud which shows many different conventions you would expect to see in a pop music video. I will use the different ideas and conventions from this word cloud to help me create my music video.
Pop music is a genre of popular music which developed from rock n roll in the 1950s. Pop is a genre which is varied and has many different elements to it and can vary from different styles such as rock, dance, urban, latin and country. Pop music is mainly short to medium length songs, which have a catchy hook to it, hence the reason why the musicis so popluar. The basic format for a pop song woulde be a verse-chorus structure, with a repeated chorus where the title of the song is mostly named after. Throughout its development, pop music has taken influences from most other genres of popular music. Early pop music drew on the typical love ballads for its form, gained its use of vocal harmonies from gospel and soul music, instrumentation from jazz, country, and rock music, orchestration from classical music, tempo from dance music, backing from electronic music, rhythmic elements from hip-hop music, and has recently appropriated spoken passages from rap. Pop music has been dominated by the American and British music industries, whose influence has made pop music famous in international culture, but most countries have their own form of pop music, sometimes producing local versions of wider trends, and lending them local influences.
A characteristic often associated with pop music is the idea that the production, recording and technology are more important on the record than live performances are. This is because any kind of new editing or sound techniques that can be used are thought to be essential for use on pop records. This is a complete contrast to rock or indie artists who revel in performing live. In addition to this, pop music is made almost completely on the basis of appealing to the masses rather than for the sheer love of writing and performing songs, which is normally the case for other genres of music.
Pop music is associated with feminism, whereas genres such as rock seem very masculine. For example, a male pop star will always come across as quite effeminate, whilst a female rock star is always portrayed to be masculine.
Pop music changes all the time, depending on exactly what style of music is getting the most coverage and good reception at the time. Stereotypically, people who enjoy listening to pop music have a very fashionable and up to date image because they are interested in new trends of clothing and styles, just as they are interested in the new trends of music. Pop music fans generally become engaged in anything that is current and up-to-date.
From this task, I have learnt what audiences expect of a music video from the pop genre. Also I have learnt the background and different ideologies of the genre. This has helped me to understand what I should consider for my music video, and whether or not it will suit my genre.
2. Genre Music Video Analysis
Here is my presentation for this task. I have answered all the questions and used evidence with images and screenshots.
